Announcing our inaugural 2018/19 Season
Fairfield Center Stage, a new community theater group, led by Artistic Director Christy McIntosh-Newsom and Executive Producer Eli Newsom, is pleased to announce its inaugural season, which will be presented at a variety of venues around Fairfield, CT from June 2018 through June 2019. The season opened with the highly successful “The Music Man In Concert,” which was performed June 28-30, 2018 for over 1500 people at the Fairfield Museum Commons.

The 1975 film THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW is a humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror ‘B movies’ of the 1950s and 60s. The musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and finding themselves at the home of a mad transvestite scientist unveiling his new creation, a muscle man named Rocky Horror.
We will be paying tribute to the original RHPS Fan Club’s concept of “The Floor Show,” combining the screening of the film with an ensemble of live actors on stage, audience participation, and the use of props and costumes. There will also be a costume contest at each performance.

“Onward and Upward” will be an evening of songs surrounding the theme of “journeys” and feature a large cast of incredible singers and musicians, as well as a silent auction of tickets to Broadway shows, local events, and so much more!
A CHRISTMAS CAROL EXPERIENCE

“A Christmas Carol Experience,” a new adaptation of the Dickens classic, will be an immersive theatrical experience that will take the audience through the many rooms of the historic Burr Mansion as they follow Ebeneezer Scrooge and the Three Ghosts on their journey. The evening will also feature a choir singing carols and dancing at Fezziwig’s party.
FCS ROCKS: QUEEN, A NIGHT AT THE OPERA

FCS musicians will recreate Queen’s iconic A Night At The Opera, featuring an amazing rotating cast of singers performing classics such as “You’re My Best Friend” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” at this one-night-only concert. The venue for this event will be announced shortly.

To highlight an incredible state-of-the-art theater inside of the newly renovated Black Rock Church on Black Rock Turnpike, FCS will present the smash hit musical, “Dreamgirls,” March 1-9, 2019. Based on the story of Diana Ross’ rise to fame, the show has made stars of Tony Award winner Jennifer Holliday and Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson. Featuring the hit songs “Dreamgirls,” “And I am Telling You I’m Not Going” and “One Night Only”.

Our New Works program shines the spotlight on new original work of some of our own local talent. This season we are proud to present a reading of the brand new musical "Vows" by award-winning composer Clay Zambo, featuring real-life stores of how couples meet.
THE SECRET GARDEN

The season will close with the family and literary classic, “The Secret Garden,” presented at the beautiful Pequot Library May 10-19, 2019. The story revolves around young Mary Lennox, who is shuttled to England to live in her Uncle’s secluded and seemingly haunted mansion after her parents die in India. Once she finds the key to a secret garden, Mary begins to peel away the layers of sadness that cover the house and the garden, showing us the power that “one small girl” can have when she “wants things to grow.”

FCS concludes its inaugural season with a presentation of new 10-minute plays to be written, cast, rehearsed and performed in the course of a 26-hour Playathon.
