JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR AUDITIONS JAN 5 & 7 2026
Fairfield Center Stage (Christy McIntosh-Newsom, Artistic Director; Eli Newsom, Executive Producer) is holding OPEN AUDITIONS (in-person and video submissions) for its upcoming spring 2026, all-female cast musical production of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR on January 5 & 7 2026. See below for audition specifics including times. The show will run March 20-29 at St. Timothy’s sanctuary (St. Paul’s Episcopal Church @ St. Timothy Campus, in the Greenfield Hill section of Fairfield. Seeking an all-female-presenting cast of adult (16+) and children (ages 8+ for a small children’s ensemble) singers, actors, and/or dancers to join our production. FCS is a community theater group, Non-Equity, no pay.
The staff for JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR includes Todd Santa Maria (Director/Choreographer) and Eli Newsom (Music Director). The production will run uptown in Fairfield at performance venue St. Paul’s Episcopal Church @ St. Timothy campus (4670 Congress St in Greenfield Hill section of Fairfield--not the downtown St. Paul’s location). Rehearsals are generally Mon-Thurs evenings (6-9:30pm, children typically released by 8pm until weeks closer to opening night when hours become extended), and Sundays 2-6pm. Actors will not be needed every day until we get closer to opening. Required sitzprobe rehearsal (sing through with the orchestra) will occur on Sat March 14 at noon. All tech rehearsals are required and will take place the evenings of Mar 15-18. Rehearsals will begin on or around Sun Feb 8 @ 2pm.
When:
In-person open call auditions will occur on Monday Jan 5 from 5:30-8:30pm (kids ages 8-15) 5:30-6:30pm adults (16+) from 6:30-8:30pm, and Wednesday Jan 7 from 5-6:30pm (all ages ok). If you are unable to attend in-person auditions you may submit your initial audition virtually (see below for submission instructions). Appointments are highly recommended for in-person auditions. See below for the audition signup link. If you are experiencing symptoms of illness, please cancel your audition appointment and submit an audition video.
Callbacks, if needed, for JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR will take place on Wed Jan 7 at 7pm. Note that not all roles require a callback so you may not be asked to attend callbacks but still end up being cast.

What to prepare:
Please prepare a brief song (under one minute) in the style of the show (rock musical / 1970s rock song / singing from the show is ok). Please bring sheet music in the correct key. A capella singing is discouraged, and bluetooth/mobile devices with backing tracks will not be permitted.
After reserving an audition time slot, you will receive a link to fill out a digital audition form as well as submit a resume/headshot/recent photo.

VIDEO AUDITION SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: If you are submitting your audition virtually, please submit (1) a video of you singing (guidelines follow) and (2) the audition form (link below). Video: sing an approximate one-minute section of a song in the style of the show (contemporary musical theater (comedic song) or comedic christmas song - singing from the show is ok). Please use an accompaniment track (i.e. karaoke track, piano track, other instrumental track, guitar, etc). Some backing tracks can be found on YouTube. Please no a capella singing, as the production team needs to hear singing with accompaniment.

Please no email attachments - send a link to a hosted, playable video. Videos that do not meet these requirements will not be considered. If we need to see you at callbacks, you will be notified by Tues Jan 6 by noon (callbacks will be that evening).

A NOTE ON CASTING: As an organization we are committed to inclusive casting. For this production specifically we are seeking an all-female-presenting cast.
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR

JESUS: Leader of the twelve Apostles, a man, called the "Son of God" and the
"King of the Jews". Must be an amazing singer with an undeniable presence.
Gender: Female-identifying
JUDAS: Arguably the antagonist of the show. One of the twelve apostles of
Jesus; concerned for the poor and the consequences of Jesus' fame. Must be an amazing singer with an undeniable presence.
Gender: Female-identifying
MARY MAGDALENE: A follower of Jesus who finds herself falling in love with him. The
role requires an actress that can show grace, stability, weakness and
Compassion. Must be an amazing singer with an undeniable presence.
Gender: Female-identifying
PILATE: Governor of Judea who foresees the events of Jesus' crucifixion from
beginning to aftermath in a dream and finds himself being presented
with that very situation.

KING HEROD: The King of Galilee; Jesus is brought to him for judgment after first being
taken to Pilate.
Gender: Female-identifying (also open to a male-identifying actor in drag)
PETER: One of Jesus' twelve apostles; denies Jesus three times upon the night of
Jesus' arrest to save himself.
Gender: Female-identifying
SIMON: One of Jesus' twelve apostles; urges Jesus to lead his followers into
battle against the Romans.
Gender: Female-identifying
CAIAPHAS: High priest who sees Jesus as a threat to the nation.
Gender: Female-identifying
ANNAS: Fellow priest at the side of Caiaphas who is persuaded by Caiaphas into
seeing Jesus as a threat.

ENSEMBLE
Mix of singers/dancers/strong movers who have good rock / pop vocals.
